I'm Rohit Parmar-Mistry
I help UK businesses build AI automation that actually works - and fix the expensive mistakes they've made with AI that doesn't.
I've spent 10+ years in the corporate world watching companies waste millions on AI projects that never delivered. I started Pattrn Data because I saw small and medium businesses struggling with the same problems - they couldn't afford the big consultancies, and the cheap solutions didn't work for real humans doing real work.
I lead every project personally. I build with The Pattrn Protocol because I believe AI should be transparent, auditable, and defensible - not just impressive in demos. And when I'm done, you own it. Your team understands it. You're not dependent on me or anyone else. That's the point.

Why I Started Pattrn Data
I spent over a decade in corporate roles watching the same pattern repeat: Big consultancies would sell impressive AI demos. Executives would get excited. Budgets would be approved. Projects would launch with fanfare.
And then... nothing. Or worse than nothing. Black-box systems nobody understood. Consultancy dependencies that cost more than the original project. Automation theatre that looked good in boardrooms but fell apart in real use.
The worst part? I'd see the same companies, two years later, trying again with a different consultancy. Same promises. Same budget. Same result.
I realised three things:
First: Most AI failures aren't technology failures. They're governance failures. Nobody can explain how it works. Nobody can defend it to regulators. Nobody owns it.
Second: Small and medium businesses face the same problems but can't afford £500K consultancy projects. They need someone who can build things that work without the corporate waste.
Third: The industry needs someone willing to fix broken implementations, not just sell new ones. Someone who'll tell you honestly if your existing AI can be salvaged or if you need to start over.
That's why I built Pattrn Data. And that's why I developed The Pattrn Protocol - my governance framework for building AI that's transparent, auditable, and defensible. Because I've seen too many businesses get burned by black boxes.
What I Stand For (and Against)
I'm For
Human-Centred Automation
AI should help humans do their jobs better, not replace them. The best implementations augment human expertise, they don't eliminate it.
Transparent, Auditable AI
If you can't explain how it works to your regulator, you shouldn't be using it. Black boxes are a liability, not an asset.
Practical Over Impressive
I'm not trying to build the most sophisticated system. I'm trying to build something that actually works and makes your life easier. Sometimes that means simpler, not smarter.
Governance from Day One
Building governance in from the start is cheaper than retrofitting it later. The Pattrn Protocol isn't optional - it's how I work.
No Dependencies
When I'm done, you own it. Your team can maintain it. You're not dependent on me or anyone else. That's how it should be.
I'm Against
Automation Theatre
Impressive demos that fall apart in real use. Systems that create more work than they save. AI that looks good in boardrooms but frustrates the people actually using it.
Black Box Solutions
'The algorithm decided' isn't an answer. If you can't explain it, you can't defend it. And if you can't defend it, you shouldn't be using it.
Consultancy Dependencies
Building systems that only the consultancy understands, ensuring you're locked in forever. That's not a service, that's a trap.
AI Hype
Promising 80% time savings when the reality is 10%. Selling transformation when what you're delivering is complexity. Overpromising and underdelivering should be criminal.
Treating AI as Cost-Cutting
AI as a tool to eliminate jobs rather than enhance capabilities. That's not just bad ethics, it's bad business. The best implementations make your team brilliant, not redundant.
Why I Created The Pattrn Protocol
After watching dozens of AI implementations fail - not because the technology was bad, but because the governance was missing - I realised I needed a framework.
Something that would ensure every implementation I built was:
- Transparent (no black boxes)
- Auditable (complete audit trails)
- Defensible (explainable to regulators)
- Human-centred (humans in control, AI assists)
- Compliance-first (built with regulations in mind)
- Dependency-free (clients own it, not locked in)
That became The Pattrn Protocol. It's not a software product. It's a set of principles and practices I follow when building AI implementations.
Every project I lead follows The Pattrn Protocol. It's not optional. It's not an add-on. It's built in from day one. Because doing it right the first time is cheaper than fixing it later.
And when I'm fixing broken implementations (which I do a lot), The Pattrn Protocol is how I retrofit governance into systems that were built without it.
What I Bring to Your Business
10+ Years Corporate Experience
I've worked in large organisations and seen how AI projects succeed and fail at scale. I know what works, what doesn't, and why.
Data & AI Specialist
Deep expertise in AI, automation, data strategy, and technology implementation. But I explain it in plain English, not jargon.
Professional Services Focus
I specialise in regulated industries - financial services, legal, accountancy, healthcare. I understand professional duty of care and what it means to defend your decisions to regulators.
Economics Background
I understand business models, ROI, and how automation affects your bottom line. I'm not just a technologist - I think about the business impact.
Gaming Industry Experience
I also work in the gaming industry (you can find me as 'Data Swami' on Orbital Outlaws). It's a different world from professional services, but the automation principles are the same.
UK-Based, UK-Focused
I'm based in the UK and work primarily with UK businesses. I understand UK regulations, UK business culture, and UK professional services markets.
What It's Like to Work with Me
Personal Service
I lead every project personally. You're not handed off to juniors. You work with me throughout.
Honest Advice
I'll tell you if something isn't worth doing. I'll tell you if your existing AI can be fixed or if you need to start over. Even if it means no sale.
No Sales Pressure
I don't do high-pressure sales. If we're not a good fit, I'll tell you. If you're not ready, I'll tell you. If someone else is better suited, I'll tell you.
Partnership Approach
This is collaborative, not transactional. You provide business knowledge. I handle technical work. We build it together.
Transparent Pricing
I don't hide pricing or play games. You'll know what it costs upfront. No surprises.
Complete Knowledge Transfer
When we're done, you own it. Your team understands it. You're not dependent on me. That's the goal.
Speaking & Events
I regularly speak at business events and conferences, sharing practical insights on AI automation for professional services firms. No hype, no jargon - just honest advice based on real-world experience.

What Else I Do
Orbital Outlaws
I'm part of Orbital Outlaws, a gaming content creation channel where I'm known as 'Data Swami'. We focus on games like Star Citizen and 7 Days to Die. It's a completely different world from professional services automation, but the community and the challenge of complex systems keep me sharp.
Thought Leadership
I write and speak about AI, automation, governance, and the gap between AI hype and reality. You can find my commentary on Newspage and LinkedIn.
Economics & Policy
I'm fervently against neoliberal economics and believe in human-centred approaches to technology and business. That shapes how I think about AI - it should serve humans, not replace them.

What Clients Say
Businesses choose to work with me because:
"He tells you the truth, even if it means no sale"
I've had discovery calls where I've told prospects they don't need what they're asking for. Or that their existing implementation can be fixed cheaper than rebuilding. That honesty builds trust.
"He actually understands our industry"
I specialise in professional services. I understand FCA regulations, SRA compliance, professional indemnity, and what it means to defend your decisions to regulators.
"He leads projects personally"
You're not handed off to juniors. You work with me throughout. That consistency matters when you're implementing something business-critical.
"He builds things that actually work"
Not impressive demos that fall apart in real use. Practical automation that makes life easier for the people actually using it.
"He doesn't create dependencies"
Complete knowledge transfer is standard. When we're done, you own it. You're not locked in.
